Happy New Year, 10 days late...

OK, so I am not that great at updating.  I started school, and finished a semester, and start my next semester next week.  I have been doing a bit of spinning and knitting, but not much recently.  I fully intend to get my Etsy shop opened by this summer, because despite the fact that I'm studying biology, I really want a yarn shop.  I have been trying to figure out all of the little things that I want to accomplish in my life tonight, and the shop and the fiber farm are still way up there on the list.  So are moving to Tennessee and surviving the Zombie Apocalypse, but hey, first things first, right?
I finished my very first plied yarn the other day.  It looks...  pretty sad, to be honest, but I think it could potentially knit up into a nice hat. I used the greenish-bluish roving that I bought at the Common Ground Fair for that one.  I still have some singles that I think I'm going to ply up as well.  My second plied yarn is on the bobbin, almost ready to wind around my arm because I don't have a Niddy Noddy for some reason.  I used the turquoise and black batts for this one, a single of each color (the turquoise single is a lot thicker than the black), and plied them together.  I will attempt to post pics, but really, I'm gonna be honest, I probably will forget.  Just sayin'.

Hmmm...

So because I suck at life and all, I have so far completely failed to install the camera software on the one working computer I happen to have at the moment. As a result, I still don't have pics for you. Bad Tara. :(
I will, however tell you that the fair yesterday was *amazing*! (Possibly more so because I went alone - my husband and kids had no interest whatsoever in going to the "hippie fair", as my husband calls it.) I got 6 ounces of gorgeous blue - green - yellow roving (Lancaster)from End of the World Farm, which is partially spun up into a slubby laceweight already. I also got a batt of black, and one of turquoise(Romney)from Wandering Moose Fiber Farm. Plus tons of business cards, and a new determination to have my own fiber farm soon. Yeah.

Hi.

Eventually, this blog will be full of wondrous things that you can buy on my Etsy shop, which will be posted in ginormous letters at the top of the blog.  For now, though, it will be full of random crafty happenings, yarny or not (but mostly yarny).   I will probably post much hand-spun, hand-dyed yarn, as that is my current obsession.  I've been doing a bit of knitting, not much, and even less crocheting right now.  But I'm spinning like my life depends upon it (which it will, when the zombie apocalypse happens, but that's a whole other post...).  I'm also making a pair of fingerless gloves out of Mmmalabrigo Silky Merino (which I will post a pic of once I have more than an inch of ribbing) because I live in Maine, and mornings quickly went from unbearably hot to cool and comfortable to really freakin cold.  Yeah.  I'll post pics Real Soon Now™, probably tomorrow night, as I am off to the Common Ground Fair in Unity, ME tomorrow for a little fibery fun.  :)
